Early life

First runner-up Omwakwe assumed control over the position of Miss Earth 2002. She was formally delegated as the new Miss Earth 2002 on 7 August 2003 at the Carousel Gardens in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. 

In a question and answer session, she was asked on her response to being the new Miss Earth and she answered: "I was dazed and couldn't trust it. Yet then I saw the salutary messages in my email and I got brings from everywhere. That is the point at which I was persuaded it wasn't a hoax"
